Meet Marcus Bailey: Pillar To Post™ Franchise Owner in Langley, British Columbia

Marcus Bailey has always known one thing for sure: he wanted to control his own destiny.

After careers in the brewery industry and construction, Marcus was ready to march to the beat of his own drum. He wanted the freedom to set his own schedule and do things his own way. Five years after joining Pillar To Post, he took the leap into franchise ownership.

Despite the skepticism from some people around him, Marcus never faced the hardships they warned him about. His former Pillar To Post employer and fellow franchise owners supported him from day one, giving him the confidence to make the transition into ownership.

The biggest challenge he faced came from working more than 100 kilometers from his home in metropolitan Vancouver. Moving into a smaller, more rural market meant adapting to a different culture, but he quickly discovered that his love for connecting with people could smooth out any barriers.

Clients are often surprised when they first meet him, Marcus says, but he quickly puts them at ease. He always leads with a personal connection. The first questions out of his mouth aren't about the house. Instead, he asks, "You got any kids?" "Watch sports?" "You play football?" "What's your favorite NFL team?"

To this day, the relationships he's built are what Marcus is most proud of. He considers them his greatest success.

Early on, Marcus paired his relationship-first approach with grassroots marketing, creating Realtor® survival packs for local open houses while investing in digital marketing. After building a presence on Instagram, he partnered with Online Image to grow his LinkedIn network, strengthen his website, and improve his search visibility. The result was thousands of LinkedIn connections, along with more opportunities to build relationships instead of cold calling.

"I'm really appreciative of my relationship with Online Image. They've been absolutely fantastic for me, both personally and professionally."

But Marcus didn't become his own boss just to work all the time. He enjoys paddleboarding, playing music (ask him about his eclectic guitar collection), and golfing. He's also very active in the community, supporting local Realtor® events, participating in golf tournaments, and giving back whenever he can.

Marcus used to be driven to prove the naysayers wrong. Today, he has nothing left to prove. His motivation is much simpler. He genuinely loves what he does and is always hungry to grow.

"I think the saying goes, it's not just a job; it's an adventure."

Since then, Marcus's hard work has earned him the >50% Award, the Highest Growth (Pinnacle) Award, and the Highest % Inspection Growth Award. Those honors reflect both his commitment to his clients and the business he's built.
